Today's project is another home decor craft- Melted Crayon Artwork. When I'm not so busy with studying, I'll focus more on sharing a variety of different DIY projects to cater to everyone's interests, but today's craft was the first thing that came to my mind, since I'm in the process of making it myself at the moment!
If you've never heard of the website www.pinterest.com, I highly suggest checking it out (especially to all you ladies)! It's this really neat site where you can "pin" links to things that you're interested in, such as fashion websites, hair and makeup tutorials, DIY projects, recipes, etc. You can search around the site and repin other people's pins, and the end product is a personal profile with Pinboards filled with things that you love. Warning: it is extremely addictive. Anyways, I was trolling around Pinterest one day and came across this melted crayon project and instantly fell in love. I've always had this attraction to anything rainbow, and I just found this project to be so pretty! I've started working on the artwork myself and haven't been able to find to the time to finish it, but so far it's been super easy.
The supplies required for this project don't cost much and can be found at any art store.
All you need:
- A hot glue gun (and glue sticks, of course!)
- A canvas (any size you wish)
- A box of crayons (I bought the box of 64 for about $4)
- A blowdryer
...for a total project cost of about $15.00 (if you don't already have a glue gun)
So far, this project has caused me no trouble at all. It's actually very simple:
- Peel the crayons (you can leave the wrappers on, if you prefer)
- Arrange them in a colour order that you like
- Glue the crayons to the top of the canvas pointing tip-down
- Once the glue is dry, re-glue any loose crayons
- Take the blow dryer to the crayons and watch them melt!
